Using the Velez-Scope to see a feather in detail

The mechanism, which holds the magnifying lens and the torch together was manufactured by hand until 1999. Initially, the magnifying lens and the torch were kept at a fixed angle relative to each other. The latest model now allows the lens to be rotated in order to find the best angle of view that suits the user. With the new torch I have also developed two different kinds of filters in order to diminish the light intensity and the brightness. By doing so, the patient and the practitioner will benefit, because not only will less light be in the patient’s eye, but also the practitioner will have less glare. In both iriscopes halogen lights and 10X magnification are standard.
