How to use the Velez-Scope

In order to turn the torch on, rotate the head of the flashlight counterclockwise with one hand while holding the barrel with the other. To shut it off reverse the movement.
Ask the patient to look straight into the centre of the magnifying lens while you try to focus their iris. The light should be illuminating the surface of the iris in an indirect way, so that the only thing you have to do is to concentrate on getting it into focus. To focus the iris you have to move the magnifying glass slightly towards or away from the patient’s eye until you see the surface of the iris clearly. Once you achieve this you can start reading the eye to have your diagnosis done.
If you want to have your torch in perfect working order please spend a few minutes reading the MiniMaglite instructions included with the torch, and you will find that you are owning the best torch in the world. The torch uses an halogen light and for this reason:
PLEASE NEVER TOUCH THE GLOBE (LAMP) WITH YOUR BARE HANDS
as it will eventually damage the globe. If you need to change the globe, the MiniMaglite brochure will tell you how to do it. Each globe will last approximately four months of normal use and you will find a spare globe at the end of the batteries compartment behind the spring.
